I've got to have more on my mind than just eggs, milk and bread these days. Keeping my wits sharp is a full-time job at my age. People expect me to be ditzy but I refuse. I made all A's at the Business School which just goes to show I have brains aplenty.Remembering several conversations I had with Blooming, the Aunt Bostickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03176806015898267434noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547382346632356155.post-75181997829261545212009-01-27T07:32:00.003-06:002009-01-27T07:44:41.932-06:00That Nice Young Preacher LadyRev. Sweetie surprised me with a visit yesterday. She came to find out when to plant the roses she's seen for sale at the Garden Shop. I told her to wait a few more weeks. She looked at me seriously then said, "Aunt Bostick, do you have small scissors and tweezers?" Thinking she wanted to use them on the roses, I told her I had both. Before I could mention that you don't need small scissors and Aunt Bostickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03176806015898267434noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547382346632356155.post-70146034170582462872009-01-21T16:28:00.003-06:002009-01-21T16:42:40.043-06:00Winn-Dixie, not so winningDear Ones,I had the yard man come over today to help with the flower beds by the back fence. It's cold today, the birdbath froze so I stayed outside for a little while. They pruned some shrubs back with a chain saw. Such a wonder to see fast work on the plants!Later, I went into town. I ran several errands then on my way home stopped at the Winn-Dixie. I usually shop over by the Jitney but the Aunt Bostickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03176806015898267434noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547382346632356155.post-8030164208065748602009-01-17T07:15:00.006-06:002009-01-17T07:41:04.708-06:00Correspondence Dear Aunt Bostick,It's great you have a blog now. Why aren't you posting more often?---A ReaderDear Reader:How kind of you to write me! I hope things are going well for you and yours.Starting a blog is a tad stretch-y for me. I'm busy with my activities here at home. Remembering to sit down to write requires a discipline I've yet to develop. One of the things I'm thinking about is Aunt Bostickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03176806015898267434noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547382346632356155.post-13485480851638078472009-01-09T06:42:00.004-06:002009-01-09T06:51:32.746-06:00Funnies Reading the paper this morning gave me a chuckle. We have a subdivision here called "Peyton Place" and a hair salon called "The Total Woman". What? No one checked to see the history of these?"Peyton Place" was a book about unhappy people made into a television series about unhappy people. "Total Woman" was a anti-feminist manifesto that made me gag everytime I saw plastic wrap for Aunt Bostickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03176806015898267434noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547382346632356155.post-38554051730622007722009-01-08T08:20:00.004-06:002009-01-08T08:34:24.585-06:00My Peoples Choice AwardsI watched last night's People's Choice Awards. This week traveled by quickly. Happy New Year to all you young women. Try not to take the world on your shoulders. Jesus handles this, not you. Be happy as you can with what you've got.Wednesday was my last beauty parlor appointment with Maurice at the Kut n' Kurl. He says his hands are giving out on him after all these years of standing behind Aunt Bostickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03176806015898267434noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547382346632356155.post-60301007039568198312008-12-30T07:47:00.008-06:002008-12-30T08:02:25.733-06:00New Year ResolutionsI'm feeling connected to the larger world through this blog thing. I'm not discussing blogging with the bridge group or the flower ladies at the Church or even Maurice at the Cut n' Curl. This is my business and I don't want anyone to tell me what I can and cannot do at my age.If you aren't limiting yourself, someone else will. We get stuck where other people put us and don't try new things.New Aunt Bostickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03176806015898267434noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547382346632356155.post-72417834438184547832008-12-29T15:32:00.002-06:002008-12-29T15:37:16.299-06:00Beginning Blog PostI'm beginning this blog during the last days of 2008.I'd like to do this blogging exercise right. You young gals encourage me to try this new thing.I'm feeling shy right now, tomorrow will be better.Aunt Bostickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03176806015898267434noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547382346632356155.post-22167368162442635892008-12-24T07:04:00.000-06:002008-12-28T19:05:15.774-06:00A Christmas Eve letterDear Niece,I'm sitting at my kitchen table writing to you. Lila's dog, Champ, is on my lap. He's not happy (or safe!) anywhere else. I agreed to keep him while Lila and Hattie drove to Houston to see Dora. I'd forgotten Champ's troubles: incontinence, deaf, can't see and toothless. I'm grinding up his dog crunchies in that little food processor you gave me before the Storm. He's a sweet dog and Aunt Bostickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03176806015898267434noreply@blogger.com0
